Trailers are some of the most durable and long-lasting pieces of equipment you can find! However, to ensure your trailer has an extremely long service life, you’ll need to stay on top of your model’s general maintenance and care. To learn how to correctly maintain and care for your trailer over the years, be sure to read through our helpful maintenance tips below.

Clean Your Trailer

If you haven’t owned your trailer for very long, you may not realize just how much dust and dirt can build up on your equipment over time. This layer of muck can easily lead to rust, corrosion, and gummed-up parts if allowed to sit for too long. To avoid this, we recommend giving your trailer a thorough scrub every six months or so, and carefully examining the body for any signs of rust. If you do notice rust beginning to form on your trailer’s various components, we recommend replacing them entirely or treating them with a metal scrub brush and rust remover spray.

Inspect Your Trailer

Trailers are relatively simple machines and, as a result, don't require much regular maintenance. That being said, your equipment’s brakes, tires, and hitch are some of its most important components, and you’ll want to care for them more regularly than the rest of your trailer’s parts. Every one to three months, we recommend cleaning, lubing, and treating your hitch for rust, as well as double-checking that your brake pads, lights, and rotors are still functioning normally. Finally, be sure to measure the air pressure in each of your tires, and replace them if you notice any cracks, holes, or minimal tread.
